During our Victoria Falls stay, our tour group was taken to a large crocodile farm, the highlight occurring when a staffer fed a leaping croc right below us on the bridge . . Also viewed at the same farm were a caged jackal, caracal, leopard, and very ugly wart hog. Trooping down to the dock to board our Zambezi River cruise boat, we were overrun by more than a dozen wart hogs, a memorable experience in that they just streaked by us to get to some riverside spot. We partied on board – Lou Daukas did some serving honors – a hippo in close-up is a horror- and the Zimbabwan houseboats were unique, to say the least. Ready to depart Victoria Falls our native chief posed with his 12 wives in a “Farewell!” photo taken on the steps of the Elephant Hills Hotel . . . Bussed to the Falls Airport, our increased baggage, now loaded with many Victoria Falls purchases, was weighed and flight-lined and before we knew it, we were winging our way back to Johannesburg. |
