The rains came! And came! And came! Best prepared? Our very own Bag Lady, Janet Daukas (top left). Two seven-tourist + 1-driver + 1-tracker Land Rovers are shown with the trackers seated on their hoods.

     The middle row of four photos shows evidence of a nearby rhino; yet another Land Rover grouping of eight CLUB 44’s; a giraffe who stood his (or her) ground and held us up momentarily; and a roadside Momma and Baby rhino, the obvious dung droppers.

     In the bottom row, disaster is shown hitting as one of our celebrated “Climb every mountain!” Land Rovers gets hopelessly mired in mud and our van (Lou Daukas shown) has to pull out the Capi-Evans-Kesten van with our winch and in the middle photo, our guide is shown dragging up some brush to do the “under the wheels” bit. In the final photo (bottom right), Lou is shown bellowing, “You owe us a drink tonight, buddy!” As it turned out, our van got mired later, was abandoned in the brush for the evening, and our group got a lift back to camp in two other vans. Be that as it may, we still did enjoy those free drinks!
