Another Giving Society
The Universitys Quadrangle Club recognizes those individuals who contribute an annual donation at the $1,000 to $4,999 level. The Club is named in recognition of all of the many quadrangles that make up the campus at Cornell, and is a reflection of all of the gifts at this level that help make Cornell University the exceptional institution that it is.
During the past year, Im informed that the Quadrangle Club had 4,515 individual members .. and this total included over 200 young alumni. The contributions of these donors help fund scholarships, teaching, the library, the Universitys many laboratories, student activities, and the maintenance of a inspiring campus.
These same gifts also assist in keeping Cornell competitive in science and the arts, and competitive in faculty and staff salaries and in new technology. The preservation of the Universitys historic buildings is still another support area. . Thats a very big ball of wax and you can readily see the importance that Quadrangle Club support plays in the total University picture.
Our own Class of 44 had 30 Quadrangle Club members this past July 19 . . The names of these members of our Class appear immediately below. Again, this is NOT a personal pitch on my part for you to "join the Club," although this action on your part would be most welcome.
Bob Gallagher says it so well when he comments, "The manner in which you make a personal donation to Cornell University - and the amount of that donation - are left entirely up to you! Youre still the one who writes the size of the number opposite "$" on the check." I couldnt have said it any better.
